Virtual Reality is an up and coming concept. Whether it is a video game console, consulting company, or home design business virtual reality is seeming to encompass it's influence throughout society. The basic concept is to be able to create, build, and experience a virtual world outside of the one we currently live in and through various software, testing, and development make the world as real as possible. Virtual Worlds are being utilized throughout industries, organizations, and cultures. In the Washington Post Article, " At Hearing, Real and Virtual Worlds Collide", details about how "a  virtual depiction of the  Rayburn House Office Building  meeting room was projected on television screens" describes the use of virtual reality in a political environment. In most cases governmental institutions are the last groups to apply the use of such technologies but as it can be seen the influence is rising. However, some of the cons of Virtual Worlds can be seen i...

Blog about Twitter

A blog in essence is the ability to share one's ideas and thoughts in formatted method. Having a blog on Twitter is more so of a informal virtual discussion and presentation of one's thoughts. Twitter in general is created and provided users with such tools that promote self thought and opinion without restriction. Having the character limit also pushes individuals to be more concise and wholesome with their thoughts. Compared to a Twitter discussion, a Blackboard discussion is more structured, without a character limit, and has many technological tools to embed links, photos, and other resources to help present an individua's thoughts. Blackboard is also considered a scholarly site which causes users to write more professionally and thoughtfully. I find Blackboard discussions to be a well thought out design of ideas. Lastly, an in-person class discussion is my favorite. This format gives up the formalities of capitalized letters and forgoes the art of writing. Rather the ...

For the most part platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn all have a main goal to spread information, connect with other people, and build an internet influence. All can also be used to market an organization or company. However, we will dive into some details of each platform which make them different than others. Facebook for example, sustains a large user base but is more of a formality platform used by older generations and family minded users. While, Twitter is utilized from providing announcements by organizations, sharing opinions of people around the world, and much more. Twitter allows people to express and build a personality of their own. Compared to Twitter and Facebook, Instagram is a safe medium. It allows users to present their daily lives in a fun and unique way, while also having a level of formality within itself (also another reason it is so popular). LinkedIn sta...

BLOG: Blog v Wiki

In today's age of New Media a plethora of tools are available to communicate, store, and present information across the wold wide web. Blogs and Wiki pages have been at the forefront of this notion. However, often times there is confusion and overlap between the two and their individual goals and purposes. To be frank a blog is created usually from the perspective of an individual or group and that party presenting it's ideas, thoughts, and news via this platform. On the other hand, a Wiki page is to be utilized to hold information, history, useful links, and general knowledge about a specific subject. Wiki pages and blogs can also be used within organizations to communicate and hold information related to specific processes and functions. It is important to note an important quirk of a wiki page is the fact that often times any individual can come and edit the information, this fact is still true for the most part. However, recently CNN posted an article titled "Wikipedi...

Are Real Estate Brokers utilizing New Media to the fullest? A disruption in this industry is waiting to happen.

As many may know due to incredibly low interest rates the housing market is booming. Individuals who would have an 800+ credit score, income over 150K, while giving 20% down would get around 4%. However, in today's time these same buyers are allocating loans at 2.8%. The real estate market is hot as can be, especially while fighting restrictions and unemployment rates due to COVID 19. As the demand grows so does the supply, and in this case the supply of younger, dedicated, tech savvy agents. This is a group of individuals who were looking to enter the trending 9-5 job market, but are now realizing the benefits of working from home, being one's own boss, and having no restriction on their salary. This younger generation prompts a disruption well needed in the industry and that is the use of technology. Most successful brokerages have the classic suit and tie - sit down mentality of purchasing a home, which may not necessarily appeal to the young couple looking for their first...
