Blog: Wiki So Far

I have thoroughly enjoyed working through the New Media Wiki so far. I have focused my efforts on the Real Estate topic and have added five paragraphs in regards to how an agent should help a buyer in the process of purchasing a home. I have added multiple links and photos within each section. Furthermore, I look to focus now on editing content of my peers and seeing how I can ensure their hyperlinks, photos, and other links function correctly. Along with that, I may look to add more detail into the real estate section in regards to what a seller may expect from an agent and the entire process. All in all, my wiki experience has been positive and I have learned a lot about how to apply new media concepts to daily topics in life.

  1. Real Estate has always been an interest of mine, which I think fostered because we live and go to school in New York City. I think your contributions are very interesting. I often read blogs on tips people have for first time home-buyers and the dos and don'ts associated with it. I think including both sides to the transaction would be beneficial to both buyers and sellers since many would be on both ends one day. I look forward to reading what you have contributed!

Blog about Twitter

A blog in essence is the ability to share one's ideas and thoughts in formatted method. Having a blog on Twitter is more so of a informal virtual discussion and presentation of one's thoughts. Twitter in general is created and provided users with such tools that promote self thought and opinion without restriction. Having the character limit also pushes individuals to be more concise and wholesome with their thoughts. Compared to a Twitter discussion, a Blackboard discussion is more structured, without a character limit, and has many technological tools to embed links, photos, and other resources to help present an individua's thoughts. Blackboard is also considered a scholarly site which causes users to write more professionally and thoughtfully. I find Blackboard discussions to be a well thought out design of ideas. Lastly, an in-person class discussion is my favorite. This format gives up the formalities of capitalized letters and forgoes the art of writing. Rather the ...

Blog: Next New

I believe the future of New Media is bright. Some of the latest advancements in technology have connected people and been one of the most powerful forms of new media such as augmented and virtual reality. I find in the near future and newer method of new media will be the development of virtual advertisements. Aka these are advertisements made from holograms or projected light onto any surface where companies can market themselves at a lower cost and more freely. It may even already exist but due to legal reasons is not used often. However, I feel like having the ability to allow an individual to market as they wish, whenever, and wherever is incredibly important and influential.

BLOG: Blog v Wiki

In today's age of New Media a plethora of tools are available to communicate, store, and present information across the wold wide web. Blogs and Wiki pages have been at the forefront of this notion. However, often times there is confusion and overlap between the two and their individual goals and purposes. To be frank a blog is created usually from the perspective of an individual or group and that party presenting it's ideas, thoughts, and news via this platform. On the other hand, a Wiki page is to be utilized to hold information, history, useful links, and general knowledge about a specific subject. Wiki pages and blogs can also be used within organizations to communicate and hold information related to specific processes and functions. It is important to note an important quirk of a wiki page is the fact that often times any individual can come and edit the information, this fact is still true for the most part. However, recently CNN posted an article titled "Wikipedi...
